Pet Fears Are Usually One Thing Most People Forget to Mention to Their Pet Sitters

You’ve gone through checklist after checklist to make sure you have all the important information about your pet for you new pet sitter. You’ve set out everything you think they’ll need while they are caring for your pet. To most people, their part is done. It’s time for their pet sitter to take over. But there is something quite important that many people forget to mention to their pet sitter.

What is your pet afraid of?
Being around your pet 24/7, you just get used to what they enjoy and what they fear. It becomes common household knowledge and is acquired just like a family member’s fears. You know, like your kids are afraid of the dark or your nephew doesn’t like to be left alone for too long. You may have had your pet for so long that you can’t remember the first times your pet showed fear towards something. This is why it’s best to sit down and deeply recall what exactly your pet fears and how they react in frightening situations. You want to prepare you pet sitter the best you can so they can provide you with the best pet sitting service they possibly can.

Here are the most common fears many pets have. These should help jog your memory a little.

The Vacuum
Every pet I’ve ever owned was afraid of the vacuum. I didn’t even have to turn it on and they’d hide away for hours. I’d find them in the strangest of places too. One of my pets couldn’t even hold her bodily functions when she saw it and made a mess on the floor every time. Poor thing.

It’s important that your pet sitter knows these things because he or she could be doing light housework and totally freak out your pet. If you were using the vacuum, you would know that your pet is hiding or even know WHERE they are hiding. Being that your sitter is a trained, experienced professional, they would probably know this already but it’s better to mention this instead of them assuming your pet is hiding when something else could have happened to them.

In the case of your pet making a mess, your pet sitter would need to be prepared to clean it up or put them in another room (with newspaper to be on the safe side) to prevent this from happening.

Maybe after vacuuming you give your pet a treat to calm them down. Your pet sitter would need to know to do the same thing as well.

Thunderstorms or Other Natural Events
Depending on your region, you could experience heavy thunderstorms, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc. It is instinctual for your animal to protect itself when they sense these events nearing. Some pets hide under beds, in closets, in boxes, behind the sofa, in the corner, or any little niche they can fit their bodies in and feel surrounded and safe.

If your pet sitter comes during bad weather one day and can’t find your pet, he or she may be worried that your pet is outside or unsafe because they can’t find them. If you let your pet sitter know the places to check, they won’t need to be alarmed. Every time your sitter visits your home, it’s their responsibility to know where your pet is and make sure he or she is safe and taken care of.

Some other fears your pet may have are:
Lawnmowers and other lawn equipment
New people (It would not be wise of your sitter to bring an assistant if this is so.)
Loud noises and fast movements in general
Their own reflection (in glass or mirrors)

Some reactions your pet may have to these fears are:
Hiding
Obsessive barking, screeching, hissing, howling or noise making
Bodily secretions
Shaking
Attacking
Snapping or biting

Your pet sitter needs to be prepared to care for your pet on ALL levels. If he or she knows what to expect, they can prevent some of these frightful situations from happening and keep your pet calm, safe, and happy. This will only lead to an exceptional pet sitting experience for everyone.

Dog Sitting Services in Tarpon Springs - Professional Sitting Services Can Give You Peace of Mind

Professionals of all types give their clients peace of mind just because their title informs us that we can trust them and expect that they are professional what they’re doing. Professional dog sitter are no different. Yes it seems nearly anybody can care for a dog but what most non-professionals take for granted are the details and knowledge involved in being a professional. When searching for dog sitting services in the Tarpon Springs FL area, bear in mind how a professional dog sitter gives you peace of mind while you’re away from home. If you’re unsure just how they can do that, here’s something to think about.

Our Animals Gives Us Joy and Love
I would say that almost all dog sitters have pets of their own and the passion to love all animals, be it theirs or yours. It’s quite unusual to find a professional with this much unconditional passion for what they do and what (or who) they work with. This fact alone should provide a great deal of comfort because the customer can sense, without a doubt, that the sitter will care for their dog like they would their own.

More Attention for the Pup
Like he really needs more? Well, he actually does. It can get lonely for your dog when you’re not around to tend to him, or her. Their attention span may be short, causing them to get into all kinds of trouble while you’re at work just by trying to occupy themselves. Then when you get home and see the mess, you scold them, and that’s certainly not the kind of attention they want or need. A professional dog sitter will help eliminate these problems by spending time with your dog while you’re out. What’s more easy on your mind than knowing you can come home to a clean home and happy dog?

Keep Your Dog at Home
In-home dog sitters in Tarpon Springs are SO convenient! They’re local and they come to you! Even if you may be considering other options, like a kennel or friend’s house, think of how bothersome it would be to load up all your dog’s food, toys, blankets, and toiletries, not to mention get your dog in the car or cage and the cage in your car, and all of that out of our car and settled in the new facility; that can be QUITE A TASK! And if you have more than one dog, it can be a nightmare! Then on top of all that, your dog stresses out about the new surroundings, people, scents, etc. It’s just better for everyone to hire a professional to come to your home and take care of your furry family member. He or she will be happy in the comfort of their own territory and you will have peace of mind knowing that.

Guilt-free Dog Sitting Service
Often times life gets so busy that we have more on our plates than we can honestly and realistically handle. Whether you have a puppy, an elderly dog or a whole family of dogs, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting help from a local dog sitter to take care of some responsibilities for you. That is precisely what we’re here for! Never again will you have to feel guilty for leaving your dog home alone for too long or for imposing on a neighbor’s schedule to check up on your pooch while you handle your many other responsibilities.

Trained to Notice Dog Behavior
Once you’ve been around a variety dogs in a myriad of situations, you start to pick up on “happy and sad” and “healthy and unhealthy” behaviors. A dog sitter can give you insight to your dog that a non-professional may not pick up on or know how to communicate to you. They can also warn you if they sense any signs or symptoms that could lead to illness. However, the most any dog sitter should ever do is advise you to visit the vet’s office. Trust us here; we’d do the same for our dog.

Your Home Looks Occupied
This creates much peace of mind because not only is your dog well cared for, but your home is safe as well. This can affect your neighbors too. If your dog sitter visits your house daily, it will ward off any suspicion of an abandoned home or neighborhood. A lot of trust is needed here but once you connect with the right dog sitter, you’ll get more out of the deal then you may have initially thought.

Pet Taxi Services
This can really come in handy for someone with a busy schedule who is not available when the pet-related businesses are open. Simply schedule the appointment for when your dog sitter is available and let them take your dog to the groomer, vet, therapy, photo shoot, whatever you have set up for your dog. You will feel great knowing that things are taken care of.

These are the many “details” professional dog sitters in Tarpon Springs take care of for you while you’re out. You’ll still have plenty of time to have your dog all to yourself but you’ll also have the peace of mind knowing he’s okay without you.
